How much air….?

September 4, 2008

People are almost always amazed at how much compressed air your typical air cylinder will consume. Having machinery with air cylinders usually means having an air compressor with real “ooomphhh”.

They also write regularly to ask how to figure out how much air an air cylinder (or air cylinders) will consume.

I’m not an engineer, but I did talk to some of those folks, got some formulas, and come up with a spreadsheet that will allow the user to plug in the details of their cylinder, and get a reasonably accurate estimate of the compressed air that one cylinder, or many, will use.

It isn’t free, but it’s cheap. Here it is!

Speedaire compressor issues

September 3, 2008

A lot of people seem to be having a lot of trouble getting spare parts for Speedaire compressors.

I have found out that Speedaire is a brand of Grainger’s, headquartered in the U.S., that there’s no such animal as a Speedaire company, and that likely Grainger goes out to the compressor manufacturers of the world to see who will give them best value on compressors, and then Grainger lets a contract to that company to manufacture Speedaire for a certain quantity or a certain time period, I would think.

In any case, if you’ve been having trouble finding information, check out Speedaire Compressor Parts.
